Bamboo Canes!
The house I moved into has bamboo in the backyard. At first I thought it was a few stalks, about two feet worth, amongst some trees. Come to find out the trees _were_ bamboo. It’s still not a huge stand, but it’s far bigger than I expected.
Today I cut down about a nine-foot stalk (stalk? I guess?) and cut it into three more or less equal lengths.
Since cutting the canes and posting the picture on Twitpic, I’ve gotten kudos and similar advice from two people: @papatomla and @thepinkpoppet. @thepinkpoppet also provided me with an excellent link for information:Â http://www.cane-iac.com/artofcaning.asp .
As I get these trimmed and soaked and ready to use, I’ll post more about the experiments. *salute*
