Wartenberg wheel review!
The lovely, lovely Wartenberg Wheel! I was given the opportunity to review this lovely little thing by Sextoy.com…they have a great selection of sex toys to choose from.
The wartenberg wheel (sometimes called a pinwheel) is technically a pervertible; it’s a neurological tool. I found this nifty little guy in the BDSM and Fetish section at Sextoy.com. It’s a metal handle with a little circle attached. It looks like a pizza cutter, or maybe a spur. There are tiny sharp points running all round the circle, so when you run the tool over skin it gives lovely little prickly sensations. If you have a light hand there are no worries of skin being broken. A heavy hand…well, sometimes that’s okay too.
CK tested the wheel on me, then I returned the favor. It’s handy being a switch…I get to experience both sides of the toys. So he started very lightly on my shoulderblades, the pinpoints gliding over my skin. As simple as this little thing is, I simply melted. My muscles relaxed, my eyes closed, and I damn near purred. CK traced patterns over my back and shoulders, sometimes light and tickling, sometimes harder and sharper. At this point, he used my new evil stick on several spots on my back, making me squirm (well, squirm and call him a motherfucker quite loudly. The damn thing hurts!); he resumed running the wheel over my back, making sure to include the welts left by the little stick. The sensation was sharper and stronger on the welts (go figure).
After a while, he had an idea. I worry when CK utters the words “I have an idea!!”. It generally means some part of me is gonna be in pain, usually my nipples, and this time was no exception. He had me take off my top, unhooked my bra, and grabbed the evil stick and the wartenberg wheel again. He teased and tugged at my nipples until they were sensitive and tight, then ran the wheel very very lightly over them…and let me tell you, that was pretty freaking awesome. I love sharp prickly sensations, sharp and stingy. While I was purring happily, CK used the evil stick on those same poor unsuspecting nipples. WOW that hurt, and a lot. I love that thing…the welts from the stick sensitized my nipples even more, made them warm and made me whimper.
My turn with the wheel was fun, too. I experimented with varying speeds, pressures and spots; it was easy to find sensitive spots with the lovely little thing. Ticklish spots, too. A little more pressure and I could get a little sound out of him; running it lightly over a nipple made his eyes close and his head drop back. A little more pressure and some speed across his back left a fun little dotted line, like perforations on paper.
Obviously if this toy draws blood it needs to be sterilized before use on another person. To be safe, I recommend sterilizing it between victims whether blood is drawn or not. I used a 10% bleach solution, spraying it on, letting it dry, then polishing off the spots that resulted. If anyone has a more efficient way of safely cleaning this particular toy, recommendations are always welcome.
This toy definitely gets good marks. Thanks, Sextoy.com!

I am assuming that this product is made from surgical steel? In any case I am sure it is made from a non rusting metal.. I would sterilize it the same way doctors sterilize a lot of things. Go to the drug/grocery store and get yourself a bottle of Betadyne (or any brand of Povidone iodine) It’s a general antibacterial sterilizer most commonly used to prep people for surgery. Put a little in a container and add water. You’ll want it to be a “tea” color. Put the wheel inside and let it soak for at least 10 min. The dry.
Just note that the povidone iodine will eventually stain the container after continual use. Make sure to rinse your hands after using it, but if you are trying to be completely sterile I would suggest wearing gloves while handling the wheel during the sterilizing process or washing your hands with the povidone iodine as well.
Oops! I misspelled betadyne.. it’s actually betadine! That is what’s used in hospitals. It’s basically a 10% povidone-iodine solution mixed with water. May I also suggest using hot water. Ok I’m done throwing my little medical knowledge on you. lol
